Assisted reproductive treatment is used to treat Swedish couples with all types of involuntary infertility. Almost two thirds of them have a baby after three attempts.

Sometimes a couple fails to conceive even though they long for a child, stop using contraception and have intercourse during every ovulation. Usually in this situation they are advised to have intercourse during every ovulation, to continue their normal life – and to be patient.

If you easily conceived your first child, you may expect the second time to be just as easy. Actually, it is not unusual for it to take longer the second time round.
